{Wonder Woman Series #1} Wonder Woman Herself!

When I was little, I wanted to be a super hero (some of you know this), I begged my mum to send me to school in my Wonder Woman costume just in case someone should happen to need my help - she didn't buy it, but sometimes I hid my costume underneath my clothes and I would go to school on watch for danger. This watch usually involved me taking a seat out in the hallway or in the corner, like the time I slapped the bully who was controlling all the toys & deciding who would & wouldn't get them, well I wasn't having any of it & swiftly gave her a slap (I don't condone violence these days) and liberated those toys for all the other children. Wonder woman would have been proud (though, not for the slapping really) I learned from her to stand up for what's right & that women could be strong too. Lately in the world, women haven't been getting treated so well or treating themselves well, so I wanted to create a series that celebrates women & encourages us that anything is possible & that we've done great things in this world. It's about women who have inspired me or you to become who we are. This series will also include your everyday ladies, some of which I have already begun interviewing (If you haven't been asked yet, you may just get asked in the future). So, this isn't just about famous women, but all women!  I hope you'll enjoy it & feel free to nominate women yourself!

Have a great day flowers

***Mini Bio***

Wonder Woman is a fictional DC Comics super heroine created by psychologist and writer William Moulton Marston. She first appeared in All Star Comics #8 (December 1941). The Wonder Woman title has been published by DC Comics almost continuously except for a brief hiatus in 1986. Her depiction as a heroine fighting for justice, love, peace, and sexual equality has also led to Wonder Woman being widely considered a feminist icon.
Wonder Woman is a warrior princess of the Amazons (based on the Amazons of Greek mythology) and is known in her homeland as Diana of Themyscira. She is gifted with a wide range of superhuman powers and superior combat and battle skills. She also possesses an arsenal of weapons, including the Lasso of Truth, a pair of indestructible bracelets, a tiara which serves as a projectile, and, in some stories, an invisible aeroplane.

“This is the Golden Lasso. Besides being made from an indestructible material, it also carries with it the power to compel people to tell the truth. Use it well, and with compassion.” – Queen Hippolyte (played by Cloris Leachman)

“If it means interfering in an ensconced, outdated system, to help just one woman, man or child… I'm willing to accept the consequences.” -Wonder Woman #170

“What was it that John Lennon said? ‘Love is the flower you’ve got to let grow.’ Let it grow already, and quit trying to legislate it!”  -Wonder Woman #200

“Please take my hand. I give it to you as a gesture of friendship and love, and of faith freely given. I give you my hand and welcome you into my dream.” -Wonder Woman #167

“Go in peace my daughter. And remember that, in a world of ordinary mortals, you are a Wonder Woman.” Queen Hippolyte

Be-You-Ti-Ful Mondays!

As a society we're constantly bombarded with images and media that tell us we need to look better, dress better, but there isn't enough telling us to love better, feel better, give better. They tell us, if you look like this small twig over here, you'll feel better than this bigger twig over there. If you wear this trend here, you'll be so cool compared to if you wear last years trend. What we need more of is, you'll feel great if you wear what you love and take care of your body in a healthy way because it's the only one your getting and it deserves your love & care! And why are there so many people - women especially falling for this mess!?! We need women to stand together, instead of tearing each other apart & take on the world. We weren't put on this Earth to live up to anyone's standards, but our own. We all deserve love no matter who we are, where we come from or what we may have done in our lives. As we women,  we need to empower ourselves from the inside out, because you won't find it in a piece of clothing - that only enhances & expresses what's on the inside. And for those that go around thinking that designer dress or shoes they wear makes you great, it doesn't. Take all that away & what are you left with!?! A hollow casing, with nothing else to give because you didn't take the time to fill yourself with the things that matter most. We all deserve to walk out of the door and feel absolutely amazing and not give two thoughts about what someone else might say...build our armour of self assurance because we know we're worth more than our outsides, we're strong minded, intelligent beings who can make a difference in the world!! I hope you take the time to love yourself today...just the way you are!!

Have a great Monday!

“Being tender and open is beautiful. As a woman, I feel continually shhh’ed. Too sensitive. Too mushy. Too wishy washy. Blah blah. Don’t let someone steal your tenderness. Don’t allow the coldness and fear of others to tarnish your perfectly vulnerable beating heart. Nothing is more powerful than allowing yourself to truly be affected by things. Whether it’s a song, a stranger, a mountain, a rain drop, a tea kettle, an article, a sentence, a footstep, feel it all – look around you. All of this is for you. Take it and have gratitude. Give it and feel love.” -Zooey Deschanel

You can be the most beautiful person in the world and everybody sees light and rainbows when they look at you, but if you yourself don’t know it, all of that doesn’t even matter. Every second that you spend on doubting your worth, every moment that you use to criticize yourself; is a second of your life wasted, is a moment of your life thrown away. It’s not like you have forever, so don’t waste any of your seconds, don’t throw even one of your moments away.” C. JoyBell C.

People always ask me, ‘You have so much confidence. Where did that come from?’ It came from me. One day I decided that I was beautiful, and so I carried out my life as if I was a beautiful girl … It doesn't have anything to do with how the world perceives you. What matters is what you see. Your body is your temple, it’s your home, and you must decorate it. We need more of this and less “Nothing tastes as good as skinny feels”’

Gabourey Sidibe (The actress who played Precious)

You'll find me in my Technicolour dreams dripping with Lace...

Hello Beauties!! I hope your week has been bliss so far!?! I meant to post yesterday, but I was stuck in a book...which was quite nice for a change. I read books like people drink water, but it's been a while since I had one I was gripped to. It was the third book of the series by Carlos Ruiz Zafon, called 'Prisoner of Heaven'.....if you wish to check it out. So atmospheric and beautiful. Also sometime ago I received a 'Sisterhood of the World Bloggers' award & I have to list 7 things about myself...So, I thought to include it below.  I hope you have a marvellous day flower petals!

P.S. Welcome to all you new lovelies...I just happened to glance over to the right & realised I'm almost to 600 on here, wow! Thank you so much, am amazed & happy my rambling makes any sense ;) But, I'm happy all of you are here & always feel free to chat away to me. It's as much your page as it is mine.
*hugs*

Thank you to Coco at La Vie en Rose  for this award, so kind. I'm to tell 7 things about myself & pass it on - which I'll do after some thought on it, so here we go....

1. When I was little, I decided to play postman with a friend, but instead of giving out post, we collected everyones' & planned to re-give it to them, like the postman, but we never got that far, as his brother discovered the post & we got in trouble. Our mothers made us knock on doors and give them their post in person.

2. As a child, I thought Dolph Lundren was the coolest man on earth, only because he played He-Man in the movie - Masters of The Universe, haha. To watch it now is quite a comedy, but the 80's were a blast!

3. I performed on stage as a child/teenager. Choir as well. Sang in a jazz band. Was in productions like Bye Bye Birdie, Joseph & The Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat & Pirates of Penzance to name some. I miss the stage quite often, love to sing & adore the theatre :)

4. I'm quite a feminist! All for girl-power, women equality and rights. I don't understand women who don't educate themselves on the world & not just on clothes and make-up. Our rights are being abused & taken away all over, so we need to keep smart & challenge that! I can look womanly and still use my brains & wit. I'll be resuming a series on the blog that will showcase great women soon :))

5. I'll be opening an Ebay shop sometime to clear out my wardrobe, haha! Vintage things, modern things...a dainty doll shop :)

6. One time driving, our car spun out & all I could think of was the song by Dead or Alive,  'You Spin Me Right Round, Baby Right Round', strange ;)

7. In my highschool locker, was a picture of Brandon Lee, from one of my favourite films The Crow. As soon as I watched it, I fell in love with it. Brandon Lee was sadly killed on set & I was heart broken. I had a picture of him on my wall at home as well that my mum got me, she used to jump because the moonlight used to shine on it and make it look like he was really there.  I had always been a Bruce Lee fan too, so it was quite sad for his son to die as well.

Photographer Artist, Ellen Rogers is from London. She uses no computer enhancing or Photoshop manipulations to create her work, it comes straight out of traditional darkroom processing, which for me I find most breath taking and refreshing. The use of these long forgotten techniques, brings forth a timeless, dreamlike state that captures the viewers attention and draws them deep into her state of being. She's been featured & interviewed  in numerous publications, she also gives lectures around England. I thrive seeing women making their way in what they love, it's very inspiring. Her work is mind altering in the most amazing of ways,  I adore dreamy things. And I hope you enjoy them too & check out more of her work on the website as there is so much to view & believe me, it gets even better :) Have a marvellous Monday dolls!

{Boutique Love} Corset Laced Mannequins

I have always had a love for old mannequins used for displaying clothes since a child wandering through the shops. One day I'd like to have one sitting in my home with an amazing vintage gown on it to display in my bedroom. The use of mannequins originated in the 15th century, when miniature "milliners' mannequins" were used to demonstrate fashions for customers. Full-scale, wickerwork mannequins came into use in the mid-18th century. Wirework mannequins were manufactured in Paris from 1835. The first fashion mannequins, made of papier-mâché, were made in France in the mid-19th century. Mannequins were later made of wax to produce a more lifelike appearance. In the 1920's, wax was supplanted by a more durable composite made with plaster.

Modern day mannequins are made of a variety of materials, most commonly fibre glass or moulded plastic. Mannequins are used extensively to display clothing in shop windows and store interiors.

And one day whilst browsing, I came across these enchanting Corset Laced Mannequins created by Lucy Curtis in 2004. She has a marvellous passion for exquisite fabrics and ways of displaying them. These beauties have been sent all across the globe and one can truly see why.  Using only quality fabrics and materials, your mannequin can come to life and be loved by you for many years to come. You can either have a corset and laced back or flat backed finish to suit your every desire. I have gazed over these again and again & I truly have no clue what I would choose should I ever purchase one myself.  If I won the lottery, I would buy quite a few of them. The mannequins are made in England and shipped all over the world. I think they'd brighten any room, you could display hats, vintage gowns, feather boas in the bedroom, or leave them as they are with a fabric design to have in your living room. I've included below pictures of some favourites, but I encourage you to have a browse on the website and facebook page for more...and if you should be so lucky to be able to...have one made for your boudoir...I have no doubt there will be magical times indeed ;) Have a wonderful weekend dollipops!
